A personalised gift is the one present that can't be bought twice: a mug with a family photo, a hoodie with a team name, a bag with a hand-drawn logo. For the shop that makes it, everything depends on the designer on the product page, the tool where the customer places their photo and text, turns the product round in 3D and orders.
We compared seven of them as a shop would: what it costs to start, what it takes from every sale, whether customers really see their gift in 3D, what the printer receives, and where it runs. Every price and feature below comes from the tool's own pages, read in October 2026.
The tools we compared
- PrintBlob: a product designer for WooCommerce, Shopify, Medusa and more, free to start, with PrintBlob Pro
- Zakeke: a hosted customiser with 3D and AR, on many store platforms
- Customily: a personalisation service built for gift sellers
- Kickflip: a hosted product configurator
- Fancy Product Designer: a long-standing designer plugin for WordPress and Shopify
- Lumise: a designer plugin for WooCommerce
- PitchPrint: a web-to-print designer for print shops
1. Getting started
- PrintBlob is free on WordPress.org. Install it and its Quick setup makes a t-shirt customers can design, with colours, sizes and prices. No account, no card, no time limit.
- Zakeke and Kickflip give 14 days without a card, then a monthly plan.
- PitchPrint gives 14 days without a card, then a plan from $23 a month billed yearly.
- Customily gives 9 days and asks for a card on WooCommerce. Its WooCommerce plugin is emailed after you sign up.
- Fancy Product Designer ($99 a licence) and Lumise ($69 a year, or $380 once) are paid before you can use them.
Winner: PrintBlob. It is the only one you can install and sell with today without paying or signing up.
2. What every sale costs you
This is where personalised gifts are won or lost. Three of the tools take a share of every personalised item on top of their monthly plan:
- Customily: $1 per item for the first 100 a month, then $0.50 up to 1,000, on top of $49 a month
- Kickflip: 1.95% of sales up to $100,000 a month, on top of $59 a month
- Zakeke Starter: 1.9% of each customised product, on top of $59 a month billed yearly, with a limit of 10 published products
- PitchPrint: $0.20 per project above its plan's monthly limit
Fancy Product Designer, Lumise and PrintBlob take nothing per sale.
A worked example
Take a small gift shop selling 300 personalised items a month at $25 each, $7,500 in sales:
- Customily: $200 in fees plus $49, so $249 a month, about $2,988 a year
- Kickflip: $146.25 in fees plus $59, so $205.25 a month, about $2,463 a year
- Zakeke Starter: $142.50 in fees plus $59, so $201.50 a month, about $2,418 a year
- PrintBlob: $0 with the free plugin, or $99 once for PrintBlob Pro's lifetime licence (on sale until 31 December 2026; $69 a year otherwise)
The fees grow with every gift sold. A flat price doesn't.
Winner: PrintBlob. It ties with Fancy Product Designer and Lumise on fees, and it is the only one of the three that costs nothing to start.
3. Seeing the gift in 3D
- PrintBlob Pro adds a 3D button beside Front and Back. The product turns into a garment on its hanger with the customer's design printed front and back, following the folds of the fabric. It is built from the shop's own front and back photos, so there is no 3D model to make, and its code loads only when a customer presses 3D.
- Zakeke has a 3D configurator, 3D from a photo, and AR in every plan, with virtual try-on as an add-on.
- Fancy Product Designer offers 3D models in its assets library, and its Shopify app advertises real-time 3D previews.
- Kickflip uses 3D models rendered as image layers.
- PitchPrint lists 3D previews on its Premium plan, plus a 3D configurator and 3D models.
- Lumise and Customily don't mention 3D on their pages.
Winner: PrintBlob for 3D from the photos you already have. If you need AR, so a customer can place the product in their room, Zakeke is the one that has it.
4. What your printer receives
A beautiful preview is worthless if the print comes out blurry.
- PrintBlob Pro gives, for every order and every printed side, a 300 DPI transparent PNG at the print area's real size, a vector PDF, an SVG and a CMYK PDF made through your own printer's colour profile, plus the customer's original images, in one ZIP per order. A print queue lists the orders oldest first.
- PitchPrint makes vector PDFs in CMYK with spot colours.
- Zakeke exports PDF, PNG and DXF, with CMYK from its Grow plan.
- Fancy Product Designer exports PDF, SVG, JPG and PNG; Lumise PNG, SVG and PDF.
- Kickflip makes high-resolution PDFs per print area.
The free PrintBlob plugin also warns the customer when a photo is too small to print sharply, below 150 DPI at the size they placed it.
Winner: PrintBlob, with PitchPrint the pick for shops that print spot colours.
5. Where it runs and who keeps the files
Zakeke and Kickflip are hosted: the designer loads from their servers inside your product page, and they keep the files. Customily runs through a Customily account.
PrintBlob, Fancy Product Designer and Lumise run on your own WordPress, so your customers' photos stay on your server. Of those three, check how current they are: Fancy Product Designer's CodeCanyon item is marked maintenance-only, and Lumise's CodeCanyon page lists WordPress up to 6.9. PrintBlob is built for WordPress 7 and was updated in October 2026.
Winner: PrintBlob.
6. Platforms and languages
Zakeke runs on Shopify, WooCommerce, Wix, PrestaShop, Adobe Commerce, BigCommerce, Etsy, Amazon and more. Customily connects to print-on-demand services such as Printful, Printify, Gooten and CustomCat. PrintBlob is for WooCommerce, Shopify, Medusa and more popular e-commerce platforms, in 43 languages.
Winner: Zakeke if you sell on many platforms or through print-on-demand. For a shop on WooCommerce, Shopify or Medusa, PrintBlob covers it.
The scoreboard

- Platforms and print-on-demand: Zakeke
Our verdict: PrintBlob, 10/10
For a shop that makes its own personalised gifts and sells them on WooCommerce, PrintBlob gets our 10/10. It is free to start and has no fee on any sale. With PrintBlob Pro, customers see their design in 3D on the shop's own photos, and the printer gets 300 DPI and vector files with every order. Everything stays on your own server. At 300 gifts a month, the hosted tools cost around $2,400 to $3,000 a year. PrintBlob Pro costs $99, once.
Choose Zakeke if you need AR, or one designer across many platforms. Choose Customily if you sell through print-on-demand rather than printing yourself.
